Trail Cartoons

My idea of a good time

is to start walking or biking and keep going for months. I’ve bicycled across the United States, hiked from Mexico to Canada twice (on the Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail) and walked across Spain on the Camino de Santiago. I draw the whole time. And after I get home, catch my breath, and make myself a salad, a steak and a martini, I’m always ready to do it again.

These trips are the purest ways I’ve found to be myself, which makes them superlative times to draw. Below are examples of this work. More can be found on my instagram.

The Continental Divide Trail

In 2022 I through hiked the Continental Divide Trail for 4 1/2 months by myself.

The Pacific crest Trail

In 2018 I through-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail for 5½ months with my then husband. Somedays I’ve contemplated buying a plane ticket and starting the whole thing again.

France and Spain

This trip was not hiking or biking, but just being a tourist. The drawings I felt compelled to make were much calmer during this less physically demanding trip.
