New Yorker Cartoons
A large part of my work is making single panel gag cartoons for the New Yorker, Red Cross and other magazines and humanitarian organizations. I love making cartoons that mix cultural commentary with humor. Below are a selection of cartoons that appeared in the New Yorker magazine. More New Yorker cartoons can be found here.
Trail Cartoons
I also love making cartoons while on long distance hikes and bike rides - it allows me to work with a more feral, live, raw, eccentric and colorful part of my self and my art. I’ve thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, the Colorado Trail, The Camino de Santiago (Camino Frances), the Tahoe Rim Trail and I’ve bicycled across country - drawing throughout all of these trips and finding a style of art that fits the physical and mental intensity and overall weirdness of these trips. Below are samples of cartoons made while hiking the Continental Divide Trail, which the book will be about (and which I am currently hiking in the summer of 2021).
Click here for a taste of trail cartoons from a thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, or here for a look at cartoons I’ve done for the Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations through “cartoonathons” to help them sort through blockers to their work. Though this will be my first book, I have done multi panel and multi page pieces before for New Yorker Shouts as well as other magazines and zines and am looking forward to working more in a longer format than single panel gags.
